Volvo

Volvo
At 98 and 115 net horsepower respectively, two mid-sized models are the latest additions to Volvo’s F-Series range of wheel loaders. The 19,070-pound L45F and 20,790-pound L50F feature Volvo’s patented torque parallel loader linkage, which provides smooth parallel lift, high rollback torque and lifting power throughout the lift range. A key element to any wheel loader is visibility, says Volvo, and the linkage on both new machines provides “class-leading” pallet visibility and a clear view of attachments. A wide rollback angle enhances loose material retention, and parallel lift suits the machines for material handling and pallet handling. The use of separate power steering and load-sensing hydraulic pumps provides full steering power, regardless of the load on the main hydraulic pumps. Oil flow on the load-sensing pump automatically adjusts to match work demand. With initial rollout in Europe in December, delivery of the Volvo L45F and L50F will expand internationally throughout 2009.

Caterpillar

Caterpillar Engine power of the new K-Series crawler dozers from Caterpillar – the D3K, D4K and D5K – has been increased 5 to 7 percent. All three hydrostatic-drive track type tractors are powered by the Tier-3-certified Cat C4.4 ACERT engine, rated at 74 horsepower for the D3K, 84 horsepower for the D4K, and 96 horses in the D5K. The new models feature a larger, quieter cab and seat-mounted electro-hydraulic controls with lever efforts decreased as much as 90 percent compared to conventional mechanical control levers. The machines can be shipped from the factory with SystemOne undercarriage, which Cat says extends track life.

Liebherr

Liebherr Introduced at Minexpo 2008, the 422-horsepower Liebherr PR 764 Litronic tractor boasts an operating weight of 52.5 metric tons, staking a claim as the world’s largest hydrostatically-driven crawler dozer. A Liebherr D9508 V8 diesel engine drives the machine by means of four variable-displacement pumps and engines, each in a closed circuit. Providing increased pushing power, tractive force and counter-rotation, the PR 764 Litronic’s hydrostatic driveline system has a particularly low center of gravity, thus making the machine safe to operate on steep slopes, says the company. An optional pivoting track system further enables the rollers to adapt to ground conditions.

Market Watch:

John Deere

John Deere Each equipped with a 93-horsepower Tier-3-certified engine, the new John Deere 120D conventional and 135D reduced-tail-swing hydraulic excavators put that power to use with “pinpoint metering” via the Powerwise III engine and hydraulic management system. A power recirculation system delivers efficient flow to the boom and arm, speeding multi-function operation and cycle times. Three modes can be selected to match engine rpm to operating conditions and application. The new “E” mode for light-duty work reduces fuel consumption without sacrificing productivity, and the high-power “H/P” mode increases engine rpm to boost horsepower for working through tough spots. Engine rpm automatically returns to normal mode once the resistance is overcome.
